Dr. Damon Bolhassani is an Associate Professor at the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York (CCNY), and a research associate at PSL, where he teaches and conducts research at the intersection of structural engineering, architecture, and advanced construction technologies. He is also the Director of the Advanced Building Construction (ABC) Lab at CCNY, which focuses on geometry-based structural analysis and design, computational and numerical methods, structural form-finding, advanced and high-performance construction materials, additive and robotic fabrication, and the application of emerging technologies to architectural and structural systems. His work combines computational modeling, experimental investigation, and physical fabrication to develop innovative and efficient approaches to structural design and construction. Dr. Bolhassani has authored and co-authored more than 67 journal and conference publications, with his research receiving more than 1,000 citations. His work has been published in leading journals and presented at international conferences in structural engineering, architecture, and construction.

He is also the author of Funicular Structures: The Art of Building Efficiently, which explores the historical, scientific, and contemporary development of efficient structural systems, including arches, shells, vaults, domes, and spatial structures. He is also the co-author of the book Introduction to Design of Building Structures. In addition to his academic and research activities, Dr. Bolhassani has contributed to professional and public discussions on structural engineering and the built environment. His expertise has been featured by major media outlets, including CBS News and Fox News, where he has provided expert commentary on significant structural engineering issues, including the Baltimore Key Bridge collapse.
